The Scouts section is designed for 10 1/2 - 14 year olds. Over the years we have done a variety of activities including sailing, canoeing, climbing, caving, camping and taking part in many of the districts events such as the cooking competition, and football competition. We also each year enter the National Scout Car Races competing against troops from all over the country although we are the only group in the district to currently enter the competition. In 2012 we came 3rd place in our class.
We meet every Thursday evening at our Scout Headquarters on Hill Street, Ripley and welcome new members. If you are interested in joining our Scout Troop please email us for more information at Scouts@1stRipleyScouts.org
We regularly go on weekend camps to locations such as Drum Hill Scout Camp Site, in Long Eaton and further afield when competing in the Scout Car races which can be anywhere in the country, and each summer the troop goes on a week long summer camp, this years summer camp is going to be North Wales.
Well done to all of the Scouts that braved the cold for the Chilly Challenge Camp on the 24th to the 26th January. Over 70 Scouts from our District attended the camp.
On the 23rd November the Troop entered the district Indoor Football competition. Held at Alfreton Leisure centre the team played really well and came in 4th place.
The Scout Troop held their 2013 Summer Camp in North Wales near Trefriw above the Conway Valley where they spent some of their time walking and exploring the woodland around the camp site. A day was also spent climbing and kyaking at Capel Curig. At other times they prepared and cooked all their own meals. Overall it was an excellent Camp enjoyed by everyone who attended.
